“Never say Never,” as the old saying goes. But sometimes it is good to exaggerate a little in our statements so that the message is understood more forcefully. We have already said here that wealth should not be pursued for its own sake. But it is also not necessary to adopt the attitude of a monk and renounce any kind of wealth. In the end, balance is what counts.
That said, let’s analyze some signs that may indicate you are following a path that will not lead to a pot of gold … quite the opposite.
1. You believe that Wealth is beyond your reach.
Most people deeply believe that becoming rich is a privilege reserved for very few people and that only a few lucky and enlightened ones will achieve it. In other words, they start the game already losing.
The truth is that, despite all the problems we have in a capitalist society, wealth is within everyone’s reach. It is not easy, and in reality only a few will make it to the finish line—but everyone can be whatever they want to be. Dream big and work!
2. You pursue someone else’s dream … and not your own.
Picking up on the “dream big” from the previous item, many people end up being influenced by the stories and legends of other famous and successful people. There is nothing wrong with that; in fact, learning from other people’s experiences is always good.
But don’t forget that each person must define their own path, their own dream. Only then will you have the motivation and resilience to withstand the occasional “stones you will encounter along the way”!
3. You are happy with a fixed monthly salary.
Nothing against salaried employees—after all, there are times when simply having a salary is already something excellent. But to be truly rich, you need to “think a little outside the box,” take more risks, and become an entrepreneur.
If you do not have this profile, don’t worry: stay focused on what you do best and seek a prominent position within companies.
4. You do not leave your comfort zone.
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is a recipe for frustration.
Seek out different situations, talk to people with whom you do not connect, and read books on subjects you do not like. Get used to the unfamiliar, because this will help you find innovative alternatives for pursuing success.
5. You buy things you cannot afford.
There are many people who are still middle class but are so optimistic that they live like the rich! And they end up spending more than they have.
If you do not have a balanced financial life, you will not have the peace of mind to take a chance on a new business or on a more promising job, for example, one with a lower salary.
